Baking, Siding and Monsters....

I was on a baking TEAR this weekend. Initially when I was looking at how much I had to bake for this thing, I was like...

Then after having to buy all the ingredients to make 400 + individual servings of dainties, it became more like....

I was on the search for recipe's that freeze well.   I keep hearing that Steel Magnolia's quote in my head:

"lt's in the ''Freezes Beautifully'' section of my cookbook. l wanna take something that freezes beautifully."

I have made so much stuff. OMG.

Lemon Square
Reese OB Squares
Lemon Tarts
Chocolate Tart
Hello Dolly Square
Vanilla Cupcakes
Butterscotch Brownies
Chocolate Brownies
Toffee Bare
Nutty Bar
Neopolitan Slice
Oatmeal Slide
Butter Tart Squares
Pinapple Angel food Cake
Peanut Butter Marshmallow Square

I have also made cookie favors and ordered 2 dozen cake Pops.  My freezer is full. I still have to get Potato Salad, Coleslaw and Buns, but I will do that closer to the time because I can't freeze it.  I also have some neighbors and family helping out with some veggie/fruit trays, so that's good.

While I was getting a good jump on the baking this weekend, Brad and Dave were working on the house.  They got the soffits/fascia up and even got about half of the siding finished.  $%^&(**^$# rain did slow them down a bit. But on a positive note, it let them see if they installed the gutters correctly.  As it turned out they will make a few adjustments,.

Sunday was more of the same. Dave brought the kids with him when he came to help because Beth had worked the night shift and was sleeping.  So I was running around with errands and trying to keep track of 5 kids.  Whew!  They are great kids and have lots of energy!  So I set them up with water pistols and sent them to the park across the street.  Perfect.

Sunday afternoon, Zach had movie plans with his buddy Ethan.  We went to see Monsters University.  It was cute, but honestly I think that I preferred the original!

Ethan came over for an hour or so after the movie. Once his Mum came and got him, I was cutting/baking again. I made cookies for the 50th favors.  So those are DONE!

What I have discovered is that I turn into a whole other being when I am busy/stressed.  Work stress, deadlines and what not doesn't seem to bother me as much. Home stress, birthday parties, Anniversary parties, Renos.... that's the shit that does me in.  I become a caricature of myself.

Wine helps though.... :)

This morning was great in that I got a letter from the Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guides of Canada wishing my parents a Happy Anniversary!   YAY!
