OKay... that was effing cold!

Yesterday was race set up.... a glorious day of hard labour in the pouring rain.  Nice.

Got up with Bleeker and was at Race site for 5:30 this morning.  It was so cold. My hands and feet are still numb.

I have to admit, I had a moment of panic, when at 7:30, I only had one volunteer and I was supposed to have 15. Many cancelled due to the weather.  It was touch and go there for awhile as there was no way, one volunteer and myself could handle giving out medals to 1570 runners (# of runners who crossed the start line) along with give away gifts by ourselves.

So I was really happy to get volunteers re-assigned from other areas. They were a great group this year and we all came together in fine fashion.

One odd happening this year... a runner was hit by a deer!  I guess a deer ran out of the woods and the runner was looking straight ahead because of the winds/blowing snow.  Both were knocked to the ground and the deer seemed more disoriented than the runner!!! Everyone was okay though.  Jeepers!

2011 is in the books baby!!!

Here is a picture of Paul, one of my amazing cancer survivor volunteers at the finish line:
